Dress Code & Policies: FAQ

POLICIES

DRESS CODE

Dress code is mandatory and imperative so that the instructor can observe the body alignment, technique & movement of the student. Repeated failure to comply with appropriate dress code may result in the student being asked to sit out of class. Student must have appropriate shoes for class, socks are dangerous and unacceptable as an alternative to shoes.

TUITION PAYMENT

Monthly tuition is split into 9 equal payments for the 36-week dance season and is due on the 1st of every month from September-May. For the Dual Payment option, tuition is split into 2 equal payments: first installment due the 1st of September, & second installment due the 1st of January. The Full Season Payment is due on the 1st of September. All tuition payments will be automatically deducted from the form of payment on file in your account on the due date (merchant fees apply). If you wish to pay by check or cash, payment must be submitted before the due date to avoid the automatic deduction. There are no refunds for tuition. (See Refund policy)

LATE PAYMENT/NON-PAYMENT

A fee of $25 is directly applied to accounts if tuition payment is not received by the 15th day of the month in which it is due. This also applies to payment for costumes. (See Costume Payment policy)

If tuition payment is not received in full by the end of the month in which it is due, your account will be placed on hold and the student will not be allowed to attend or participate in class until the balance is paid in full. If accounts are 2 months delinquent, the student will be un-enrolled from classes until the balance is paid in full and you will have to re-enroll and pay the registration again.

REGISTRATION DUES

There is a $15 registration fee per student ($10 for each additional family member). The fee reserves space for the student. This charge is non-refundable and must be paid with registration. Registration is not complete and the student's space is not reserved until the fee is paid.

NSF CHECKS

A $25 fee is charged for all returned checks.

PRIVATE LESSONS

If a student needs individual help with an instructor to work on technique or choreography, private lessons are available. Lessons are $50 per hour and must be scheduled for a minimum of 30 minutes.

COSTUME PAYMENT

All costume payments are due in full on the 1st of November. Costume payment will be automatically deducted from the form of payment on file in your account on the due date (merchant fees apply). If you wish to pay by check or cash, payment must be submitted before the due date to avoid the automatic deduction. A fee of $25 is directly applied to accounts if costume payment is not received by November 15th. If costume payment is not made in full, it will not be ordered. Dance costumes can take months to come in, so they must be ordered before December to ensure they arrive on time for performances. Additional class costume orders will not be made. If a student does not have the appropriate costume, they will not be able to participate in performances with their class. There are no refunds on costumes. (See Refund policy)

COSTUME EXCHANGE

You may exchange costume sizes if necessary, but will be responsible to pay a $25 restocking & shipping fee. Students are measured and sizes are chosen according to costume sizing charts. Before costumes are ordered, you have the option to make sizing changes if any adjustments are needed.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

All classes cancelled due to weather conditions, instructor absence or other unexpected circumstances, are attempted, but cannot be guaranteed, to be made up. Class cancellations do not always coincide with school cancellations. Unexpected or last-minute cancellations are sent out via email and/or text message.

WITHDRAWAL

If a student needs to withdraw from a class, you must give proper advanced notification and/or drop the class via the parent portal. If proper drop procedure is not followed, you will continue to be billed and are responsible to pay for all charges until it is done so. If a student withdraws from classes anytime during a billing month, you are responsible to pay for the entirety of the month's tuition. With the exception of our Tykes & Tots classes, which are done in 4-week sessions, dance classes are unlike other sports in that each student has an individual part in choreography and cannot be replaced. When enrolling in a dance class, you are making a commitment to the rest of the class. In the case of a student’s withdrawal, all choreography must be adjusted, thus affecting the rest of the students in that class.

REFUNDS

Bethany Ann Hellen Studios, Inc. is not entitled to refund any tuition or fees. Dual or full season payment discounts, costume payments & registration fees are non-refundable. There are no refunds for classes missed due to your own absences.

ABSENCES

In order for every student to receive the most out of class, attendance needs to be taken seriously. Missing classes means missing a large amount of material that will not be taught again. Absences also cause the instructors and other students in class difficulty due to formation placement and choreography that is dependent upon the absentee.

When an absence is unavoidable, please report your absence in the parent portal attendance log ("More"> "Attendance Log"> "Report Absence" and/or notify the studio ahead of time.

If a student has 4 consecutive & unexcused absences from class, the student will be un-enrolled. If a student has more than 5 total unexcused absences throughout the season, the student will be un-enrolled from classes.

In the case of excessive amounts of excused absences from class, BAHS reserves the right to remove the student from performance choreography so the other students in class can continue to move forward.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP

All dancers need to arrive on time for class. Walking in after class has started is distracting to the students &/or instructors. Please do not expect the studio to be open more than 10 minutes prior to or after class. BAHS is only responsible for students within the dance room during their class hour. BAHS is not responsible for children in the lobby, restroom, hallway, or outdoors. Please provide adequate supervision. If you are going to be late before or after class, please notify the studio.

RECURRING LATE PICK-UP

You will be responsible for a childcare fee of $1/minute after 15 minutes if late pickups are a common &/or recurring issue.

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

Studio rules are directed by instructors, and are expected to be followed so classes run smoothly and all students are able to learn in a safe & positive environment. If continued lack of respect for studio rules, instructors or other students occurs, a parent will be notified and the student may be removed from class. Only students are allowed in the dance rooms during class times. Family &/or friends must remain in the lobby. No cell-phones (unless instructor-approved for recording purposes), food, or drinks (with the exception of clear bottled water) are allowed in the dance rooms- they must be kept in the lobby. No outdoor shoes are allowed beyond the carpeted area in the entry. Cubbies & dressing rooms should not be used for outdoor shoes. Please respect the studio space by cleaning up after yourself and conducting yourself in a manner where things will not be broken or ruined. Any student, family member or friend guilty of damage to the studio may be responsible for payment or replacement of damaged item.
